Sailing boat underway at sea
About Digital Deckhand

A marine team that knows the industry.

Born from life aboard and built into a specialist crew for marine businesses that want senior direction and the team to act on it.

A note from the founder

I wanted to market things I actually cared about.

Before Digital Deckhand, I ran a general marketing agency. Then I moved onto a boat with the plan to sail for years and go as far as we could. Six months in, I was struggling to get excited about products and markets that meant nothing to me.

After a full year living aboard, the answer felt obvious. I already knew the products on my own boat, followed the marine companies I admired and could picture myself as the customer. Why wasn’t I building an agency around the industry I genuinely loved?

In 2022, I started researching and speaking to those companies. The general agency became a marine agency. What began with paid advertising became Digital Deckhand.

How the agency evolved

It started with ads. Then the brief grew.

Clients did not need another isolated service. They needed the next problem solved without starting again with another agency.

A strategy only matters if somebody can carry it out.
01

Paid first

The earliest Digital Deckhand work was Meta and Google advertising for marine businesses.

02

The journey mattered

Creating demand exposed the next problem: the websites, positioning and conversion journey had to perform too.

03

The crew expanded

Web, search, content and social specialists joined so each part could be delivered to a higher standard.

04

Growth became the offer

The Growth Partnership brought senior direction and specialist execution together under one commercial plan.

The crew around the work

Specialists where they matter.

Each discipline has people focused on doing that work properly. The teams contribute independently when required, but every decision stays connected to the same direction.

01

Paid advertising

Campaign specialists focused on demand, measurement and the commercial result beyond the click.

02

SEO & AI search

A search team building technical strength, useful content and visibility across search results and AI answers.

03

Web development

Designers and developers creating digital journeys that make the product clear and easier to choose.

04

Social media marketing

Content and social specialists turning expertise and footage into a consistent, credible presence.

How the relationship feels

Part of the team. Not another supplier.

We are active in the conversations, questions and decisions that keep the work moving—not an agency that disappears between monthly reports. The aim is to feel like a remote CMO with the specialist team to action the plan.

What shapes the work

Ask the right questions.

01

No fixed playbook.

Region, buyer, price, offer and commercial reality change the answer. No two businesses need the same growth setup.

02

Questions before channels.

A request for ads or SEO may not reveal the real constraint. We diagnose the business before prescribing the activity.

03

Stay for the long term.

The strongest work comes from context that compounds. We prefer a handful of deep, multi-year relationships over constant client turnover.

Built for what changes next

Use the tools. Keep the judgement.

AI is changing how every agency works. The opportunity is not to compete with it—or hand the client over to it. It is to build the frameworks and systems that remove repetitive work while keeping strategy, marine context and important decisions with experienced people.

That is where Digital Deckhand is heading: more capability, tighter cohesion and continually better execution for a deliberately small group of long-term partners.
